How to stand up in important issues, subject that you care about, in Atlantics

What an incredible list of supporting characters they have. They come in and shift the film a whole new side. From positive to negative. It switches on and off within a blink. Personal favourite scene is when the commissioner comes in and orders his officer around with instructions and it simply beats positive and negative beats, altogether. The writer and director Mati Diop’s Atlantics says a lot, almost too much to be contained in a two hour film. But it’s the way she shots these issues in those very two hours, that gives you an enlightening experience. Another thing to behold is the way all of these tracks are swooped in. It’s elegant, her procedure of slow-burn drama mixed with social satire.
