Jawaani Jaaneman

It is time that Saif should dive in on the rom-com genre. Especially if it has all the familiar ingredients, you will need someone of his caliber to refresh the dish with his kookiness. The director Nitin Kakkar’s Jawaani Jaaneman is a remake of an Argentine film Igualita a mi and still I wouldn’t call this either of theirs. This is a Saif Ali Khan show. From head to toe. With a one-liner “Apna khata chalta hai yahan” he starts the film and is present in every frame of the film. And if the protagonist of the film is arguably complex, the makers keep the storyline simple and easy. It follows a textbook verified formula with a balanced pace and rippling causal progression leading us from one scene to another in a surprisingly smooth narration. The film is a success when it repetitively denies to succumb to the expected norms of the genre and just doesn’t hit any bump.
